This is fantastic, beethy. I had no idea that dodge and burn could be used to such great effect. Thank you!

Aaaaaah so PRETTY. I KNOW ALL YER SECRETS NOW 8D

You still have this very natural way of deciding colors and stuff... any tips on color theory from you? :D

Correct me if I'm wrong - can all the colour balance and contrast be done entirely in curves graph? Personal preference of Yours or is there something I'm missing not using Colour Balance menu at all?
Also: do You use unsharp mask at the end or does the dodge and burn play take care of pronouncing the details of the image?

Don't always unsharp mask.
When I do it's usually selective.. so I create a new layer.. then erase the shit I don't want as pronounced.

Yes.. Colour balance can be done through curves (which is what I often do).. However, for a quick and smooth colour temperature adjustment for certain areas I find colour balance more effective.
The main final look of the photo is decided by curves and all its channels.

Thanks. Excellent tutorial. The only thing I would change, is using masks instead of erasing. But that's a personal preference (although I think it's a way more flexible technique over erasing). I like how the colours at the end seem washed down, but still retain the dreamy character. Glamour meets Lomo... ^_^

I'm waiting for more tutorials to follow... ;-)

Yeah.. masking is what all the pros do.. But I'm extremely used to this method because of my previous (OLD SLOW) pc :D

If You combine adjustment layers with masks, it actually uses less resources of the computer. I think that new Photoshop versions create a mask to go with every adjustment layer automatically. It really takes about 3 photos to change Your habit. While on a mask, set Your colour to Black/White and swap between them with the X key to add or subtract the adjustment You're working on.
There was a technique similar to Yours, that utilized a 50% grey mask (instead of a layer) to dodge and burn. So You could burn with darkening the mask towards black or dodge with brightening to white (or vice versa, can't remember now). Not only You had two adjustment in one layer (a mask is in grayscale, so it frees up some RAM) and they were non-destructive too.
